Tampa Electric’s partnership with Tampa General Hospital.

Last week, our President and CEO Archie Collins, Vice President of Electric Delivery Chip Whitworth and Community Investment Manager Julie Ward celebrated the new name and the deep connection between TECO and Tampa General Hospital.

"Tampa General Hospital is at the forefront of innovative care for burn patients and this gift to name the TGH Burn Center: A TECO Partnership demonstrates Tampa Electric's significant investment in the community and their health and wellbeing," said Tampa General President and CEO John Couris. "The new name of the Center is a signal of their faith in the impressive work of our teams and will inspire patients for years to come."

"TGH's Burn Center offers life-saving treatments and innovative therapies that make a profound difference in the lives of those affected by severe burns," said Archie. "TECO is honored to help give hope and a brighter future to patients."

Tampa Electric’s relationship with Tampa General spans more than 30 years, from powering the hospital and the Tampa Medical & Research District to generous contributions from TECO team members to the TGH Foundation.

“The TGH Burn Center is a widely renowned and a vital asset to the Tampa Bay region, and Tampa Electric is proud to support it,” said Chip during the Jan. 31 ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This facility and its team bring innovative therapies and critical care to people who need it the most. The quality of care is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the hospital’s administration and staff; where, these essential services give many patients hope for a brighter future.”

VP of Electric Delivery Chip Whitworth: “I’m honored to sign on behalf
of Tampa Electric in recognition of our partnership and in support of Tampa General Hospital’s tremendous service to our region’s health care.”

TGH’s Burn Center is one of only six burn centers in Florida verified by the American Burn Association/American College of Surgeons — and one of just two adult and pediatric burn centers in the state to earn this distinction. The center treats more than 500 adult and 300 pediatric burn patients annually, providing expert care from emergency admission through rehabilitation.

"TECO's partnership with the burn center will make significant contributions to advancing Tampa General Hospital's position as leaders in the rapidly evolving field of burn care, helping patients achieve better outcomes and making new strides in treatment," said Dr. Nicholas Panetta, Chief of Tampa General Hospital Plastic Surgery.

Through this partnership, TECO is helping to fuel hope and healing for burn patients across Florida — another way we’re making a difference where it matters most.
